Core AML/CFT Principles, Crypto-Asset Compliance and the Use of AI in AML — 2026 Edition

Incorporating Artificial Intelligence in AML/CFT Compliance and the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689)

Course overview

This updated 2026 edition additionally addresses the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in AML/CFT compliance and the emerging regulatory issues surrounding it. It examines how regulated entities apply AI in transaction monitoring, KYC/KYB, risk assessment and other compliance functions, together with the opportunities and risks this presents. Particular attention is given to the relevance of the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) to the use of AI in AML/CFT processes — including the risk-based classification of AI systems and the resulting governance, transparency and human-oversight considerations for regulated entities deploying such systems in their compliance functions.
